Our Client a specialist environmental consultancy now have an exciting opportunity of an experienced water engineer to come and join the existing team in their Glasgow office. With multiple offices throughout the UK and Ireland, the role will be servicing a range of clients on a mix or project sizes. The role would ideally be based from Glasgow but they do have the option to offer the right candidate a flexible working arrangement

Key responsibilities

The role will involve working as part of a team on the technical delivery of projects. There will also be responsibility for business development and involvement in the tendering process. You will be given the opportunity to project manage and therefore excellent client relationship skills will be required. You will also be working closely with other technical areas within the business such as ecology, EIA, therefore an awareness of other environmental disciplines would be advantageous.

Job requirements

You will have:

  • Proven UK consultancy experience, having been closely involved in project delivery. UK experience is requisite.
  • Project management experience.
  • Proven technical abilities in at least two of the following core areas: civil/water engineering design; drainage design; flood risk management; hydrology; hydrodynamic modeling; geomorphology; river restoration; and environmental assessment.
  • The ability to produce written reports to a high standard.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong understanding of quality systems such as ISO 9001.
  • Proven ability to help win new projects.
  • A thorough understanding of water related legislation including flood risk, abstractions and discharges.
  • Proven ability to build effective relationships with clients, sub-consultants and regulators.
  • An undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering or relevant physical sciences.
  • UK driving license.
