Our client is a well-established Environmental specialist, who have a strong core within ecological consultancy based in the Midlands. They have an exciting opportunity for an ecological consultant or senior consultant dependent on experience to come and join their growing team. They have a wide and varied client portfolio including public and private sector clients such as local authorities, large landowners and the NHS. Projects tend to be based locally but can be further afield across the UK.

Key responsibilities

Due to an increasing workload and planned continued expansion they are seeking a professional and experienced ecologist to join their team of highly motivated and ambitious consultants. As mentioned the role could accommodate a Consultant or Senior consultant level Ecologist. As an Ecologist you will have commercial project experience in a consultancy environment and a track record of working with Great Crested Newts on a range of different projects. As a Senior Ecologist it will be expected that you will come with extensive consultancy project experience in addition to experience of licence applications and mitigation implementation.

Job requirements

Requirements:

  • Understand clients’ requirements and deliver projects on time and on/under budget to a high standard.
  • Produce tenders and fee proposals.
  • Produce high quality technical reports in accordance with best practice guidelines.
  • Take the lead on Great Crested Newt work (senior only)

Qualifications / Experience (Consultant Ecologist)

Essential:

  • Associate IEEM member or have obtained the required experience to apply
  • Natural England Great Crested Newt licence or on the cusp of getting one
  • Demonstrable consultancy experience

Qualifications / Experience (Senior Ecologist)

Essential:

  • Full IEEM member
  • Natural England Great Crested Newt licence
  • Proven experience of successfully preparing and applying for EPS licences for GCN
  • Demonstrable consultancy experience
