We are currently recruiting for a driven and skilled Geoenvironmental Engineer to join one of our reputable clients. The successful candidate will play a key role in contaminated land assessment, ground investigation, environmental risk evaluation and delivery of technical solutions across a range of development and infrastructure projects. 

You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, managing tasks from initial desk study through to site investigation, reporting, remediation and verification.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct Phase 1 desk studies including historical research, site walkovers and environmental risk screening. 
  • Plan, supervise and conduct Phase 2 intrusive ground investigations (trial pits, window sampling, drilling operations, groundwater/soil sampling). 
  • Log soils and materials to industry standards and coordinate laboratory testing schedules. 
  • Produce interpretative reports, including contamination assessments, conceptual site models, and quantitative risk assessments. 
  • Assist with the design and implementation of remediation strategies for contaminated land, ground-gas mitigation and environmental protection. 
  • Carry out ground-gas and groundwater monitoring, data analysis and interpretation. 
  • Liaise with clients, regulators, subcontractors and internal project stakeholders. 

Job requirements

  • Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Earth Sciences, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline. 
  • Strong understanding of contaminated land legislation, environmental guidance and risk assessment methodologies 
  • Experience delivering Phase 1 and Phase 2 contaminated land assessments. 
  • Ability to interpret soil, groundwater and gas monitoring data. 
  • Confident in technical writing with the ability to produce clear, accurate environmental reports. 
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage fieldwork and multiple project tasks. 
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites.
